For Sale: Custo Dress

Although I adore this dress I’ll be selling it on eBay in the next few days so have a butchers if you’re interested.

It’s hardly been worn and is in very good condition.
This long bell-sleeved, low cut dress features dark green velvet with two different patterned silks and screams a retro 60’s vibe that would be great if you were going to a themed event…or just for everyday wear of course!
It was made in Spain and the Custo brand is still going today.

The measurements when laid flat are as follows-

Length: shoulder to hem= 34"
Length: underarm to hem= 25.5"
Width: underarm to underarm= 17”
To give you an idea of how the dress fits I would say I’m a size 8-10 in most clothes but as I’m a gymnast I have fairly broad muscular shoulders and the top half of this dress does fit snugly. As the material is silk it doesn’t have a lot of give so I would say it is more suited to a slighter girl on top with a small bust. From the images you can see it is very low cut but you could wear a small lace trim top underneath if desired.
I’m 5ft 5.5in and I feel that this dress would look stunning on someone a little taller than me or someone with slightly longer legs…but this is just a personal preference.
If you have an questions or queries, drop me an email at…

I'll let you know when I pop it on eBay.

A hard-earned reward…

well kinda. That’s the beauty of university, it is in fact only two and a half weeks of work, admittedly those two and a half weeks are the worst of your life and afterwards you are left emotionally and physically exhausted unable to remember any of the topics or titles of the essays you have just handed in BUT the rest of the time its just like being retired except you can get away with more debauched behavior blaming youthful inexperience, and you have less money.
Still I think I deserve a treat, a proper treat, something I can see and touch. The obvious answer is shoes.
I love shoes. So much. But the problem is I’m too mean, I have an irritatingly strong willpower which means I will not buy myself nice shoes…noyin’. This, of course, will all change tonight when I win the Euro Millions (166 million squids bitches!) Then I’ll have a whole room dedicated to shoes.
I digress…trawling through the internet I have found lots of lovely shoes that I would love to call mine but I just cannot decide whether to go for a staple nude pair that’ll make my legs look about 20ft longer (that would be helpful) or to go for a statement pair that go with less outfits but ones that everyone’s envious of…decisions.

I will, of course, regret buying these shoes when I have no money in the very near future but then who needs food when you have a gorgeous pair of shoes on your tootsies?

Oh and listen to this it’ll make you shuffle incessantly. I was lucky enough to catch Tangled Hair at The Hope in Brighton. They’re an amusing bunch of lads but I wish they’d played more songs…4 tracks isn’t really a set is it boys? Looking forward to loads more from them though.

Peace and serenity,
Gracie

Bloody love you Brighton...

Brighton Beach: The perfect cure for any hangover...

So, going back a few weeks now, there I stood in my very large and very bare uni halls kitchen staring out the window stuck in a reverie that even I wasn’t a part of.  It was raining stair rods and the clouds were as black as the ace of spades, but still the view ahead appeared beautiful to me. Standing there with a comforting cup of tea cupped in my hands I realized something that I should of known all along but perhaps had to get to this moment to fully understand.  This year in Brighton had meant a hell of a lot more than I had credited with. I’d met some amazing new people and discovered some wicked places, all of which providing me with memories that I’ll keep locked in my mind for reminiscing on other rainy days (Lord knows we have a lot of them). I’d created a new me in this first year. Perhaps not ‘created’ or even ‘new’ because I think this person has always been there just shadowed by other things and it took a multitude of experiences to catalyse the me that’s sitting in front of the computer this very second.
Now I’m not normally one for all this self-discovery rhubarb and any way I write it, it sounds like a massive pathetic cliché which is annoying because it comes across as rather insincere. All I know is that at the moment I’m happy. Jam hot happy.
All this meant I was sketching a little about coming back to my hometown. The girl that left here is certainly not the girl that returned. I did wonder whether I could still ‘do’ the Farnham life or whether I’d just sit at home counting down the days till I can go back to my beloved Brighton. Thankfully it’s been ok, more than ok- pretty darn good actually! The Surrey drink prices were a bit of a shock to the system as well as the lack of buses and late night events but on the whole I’ve had a awesome first couple of weeks back and I plan to just party on through any burgeoning boredom.
Turns out I can still do the Farnham way of life, just with a little more Brighton flair added.

Also I just found out I passed my first year so I’m gonna buy me some nice shoes… question is: which ones?

Peace and Love,
Gracie

“If we understood the enigmas of life, there would be no art”

Albert Camus. That quote providing me with much ponderation on this rainy afternoon.

Being a bit of a limbo bimbo at the moment. Finding it so hard to get motivated to do anything. And it’s winding me up no end.I’ve got a lot of work hanging around at the moment. Stuff I’m really looking forward to getting into, stuff that’ll hopefully involve a bit of soul searching and stuff that’ll hopefully cast a light of inspiration and motivation over all aspects of my life...

...Anyways I took these photographs the other day, when summer thought it would make an impromptu appearance to remind us of what it looks like and to get us all a little excited for when it arrives and hopefully hangs around for a little while.

The top photo was taken by my lovely friend, Maria- right little voyeur ain’t she?!

Check out my Flickr for more of my photographs…

I hope to re-do the photograph above with a person standing in the foreground on a grey and misty day. A steam train coming through the tunnel would be pretty cool too.

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field, I will meet you there."

I’m currently lusting for a pair of summery loafers with a 1960s vibe- I’ve seen more than a few ideal pairs around (mainly already on people’s feet I may add) but a current lack of funds means that the perfect pair must come from H&M as I have a voucher. Sadly after a quick look on their website I was unable to find the perfect pair, or any pair for that matter. They did have some very nice heels. I must not buy heels. I do not need heels.

The top two pairs are from ASOS(really want the blue ones!!!)The bottom pair are New Look- they look a little cheap, mainly because they are, but maybe they'd look alright on??

Must put in a mention for my good friend Jonny Williams’ super cool little clothing company, Exit Left Apparel. I want the sweater. Check it out…

Final thought: Sucked my hair into my hair dryer this morning. Had to cut it free. Bad times. Also, I really dislike Razorlight.

Peace and practicality,

Back down in Btown...

I hoped the charity shops back home would deliver…and boy oh boy did they. Levi shorts. Check. Granddad cardie. Check. Baseball styley jacket thing (catchy I know). Check. AND I got them all cheap as chips…

Levi shorts (were full length jeans) = 4 squids.

Granddad cardigan with suede shoulder detail = ONE SQUID!!!

Jacket = 2 squids.

I was jam hot happy.

(Did a shameless outfit copy here (scroll to older post) but I told ya I loved the styling…)

Camera ran out of battery shortly after and so good old web cam quality shall proceed...

I am simply too excited for my birthday. It’s going to be woodland creature theme; I want it to be all trippy where everyone still looks like humans but half animal at the same time like Wind in the Willows or that Smirnoff ad that was around for a bit. My flat mates are putting so much effort into their costumes, which is literally making me burst with joy! I have decided that I love the Topshop dress now and so its on to make up. The inspiration for my make up comes from the three pictures below, the last is the result of my experimentation…

No. 17 1960s set.
Scarlett Johansson in The Spirit.
Make up at LAMB. Sooo gorgeous.

I did a very silly thing. I left my hair straighteners back in Ftown. Not cool. It’s not really worth getting them posted up so today I ventured out in the lovely mizzly weather to buy a cheap pair. Remarkably Topshop have the cheapest ones, especially when you factor in student discount and whatnot. I got the blue starry ones for £10.80 and I had a fivers worth of vouchers so that only £5.80 really isn’t it?

When I hold them I feel like a giant ‘coz they’re mini. I like that.

I was a bit frivolous today. I saw a mug. I liked it. So I bought it.

I truly believe it’s this kind of mindless consumerism that has plunged this country, indeed the world, into recession. Although I would like to add that the mug was from the 99p Store and thusly cost 99p, so I guess its not as bad as all that. Plus it’s made me truly happy and I’m a bit poorly so don’t you be judging me!

Happiness and healthiness,

Gracie

Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night

Take these sunken eyes and learn to see

all your life

you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light of the dark black night.

Just let this song carry me away at the moment. I don’t really need to be taken anywhere, it’s just nice to go off to a little imaginary world all cinematic and that. It takes me to a cliff top walk where I pick blackberries and its warm, not too warm, just perfik. I also really like the way Rachel Evan Wood sings it in Across The Universe.

Popping back to good ol’ Farnham today. I am very much looking forward to sleeping in the pitch black. In Brighton it is never pitch black- you can always see. It’s a peculiar notion but you do miss it, sounds gothic I know, but its true. I imagine its similar for people who live in countries where for months on end its just night, but opposite of course.

I really want/need (probably want rather than need) a big slouchy patterned cardigan like the ones below. I have a number of jumpers like this but no cardis which just won’t do. Urban Outfitters have a load of gorgeous ones in but in my current economic situation I cannot and will not justify spending 38squids on one. However, all is not lost as the charity shops back in Farnham and Camberley are pretty good for finding much desired purchase for a very weenie price- Just in the nick of time ey?!

The top image is Pandy's Vintage (check it on eBay) and the second is Fox Vintage (eBay it for sure) I know it’s not patterned but I adore the styling for the outfit. Top job me thinks. And everyone loves a bit of mohair right? Except when it get in your mouth…or in your eyes.

Love and longevity,

Gracie

Warning...

If you have something you're meant to be doing DO NOT visit this tumblr, it is incredibly addictive...but I thought I'd share it with you anyway.

I could spend pretty much forever looking at pictures of Agyness Deyn, proof of her versatility I thinks. She exudes coolness so naturally.
Here are a few (a very few) of my favourite images of her...

Just love the outfit she is wearing above.
