Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night

Take these sunken eyes and learn to see

all your life

you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light of the dark black night.

Just let this song carry me away at the moment. I don’t really need to be taken anywhere, it’s just nice to go off to a little imaginary world all cinematic and that. It takes me to a cliff top walk where I pick blackberries and its warm, not too warm, just perfik. I also really like the way Rachel Evan Wood sings it in Across The Universe.

Popping back to good ol’ Farnham today. I am very much looking forward to sleeping in the pitch black. In Brighton it is never pitch black- you can always see. It’s a peculiar notion but you do miss it, sounds gothic I know, but its true. I imagine its similar for people who live in countries where for months on end its just night, but opposite of course.

I really want/need (probably want rather than need) a big slouchy patterned cardigan like the ones below. I have a number of jumpers like this but no cardis which just won’t do. Urban Outfitters have a load of gorgeous ones in but in my current economic situation I cannot and will not justify spending 38squids on one. However, all is not lost as the charity shops back in Farnham and Camberley are pretty good for finding much desired purchase for a very weenie price- Just in the nick of time ey?!

The top image is Pandy's Vintage (check it on eBay) and the second is Fox Vintage (eBay it for sure) I know it’s not patterned but I adore the styling for the outfit. Top job me thinks. And everyone loves a bit of mohair right? Except when it get in your mouth…or in your eyes.

Love and longevity,

Gracie

Warning...

If you have something you're meant to be doing DO NOT visit this tumblr, it is incredibly addictive...but I thought I'd share it with you anyway.

I could spend pretty much forever looking at pictures of Agyness Deyn, proof of her versatility I thinks. She exudes coolness so naturally.
Here are a few (a very few) of my favourite images of her...

Just love the outfit she is wearing above.

The best things...

The best thing is when you get given a gift card for your favourite shop and you don't know how much money is on it but you assume its only about a tenner and then when you take it to the till to check exactly how much is on it, it turns out to be 30 squids and you just can't contain your excitedness so you do a little jig right in the middle of the shop. This happened to me the other day and I was very, very happy. Thusly I bought this bag from Urban Outfitters, and I bloody love it…

The best thing is an impromptu girly wander 'n' shop 'n' chat round town on a Saturday, followed by an even more impromptu visit and big night out with your friends from back home. All this made me jam hot happy and uncontrollably excited for my birthday.

The best thing is a Sunday where you do nowt and feel a little guilty but don't really care 'coz worse things have happened at sea.

The best thing is rediscovering a band and falling head first in love with their lyrics and sound all over again. I'm currently doing this with White Lies "To lose my life". Quite simply a wicked album that you listen to to evoke any emotion you want…or even none at all.

The best thing is finding a miracle product. I recently found L'Oreal Paris' Studio Secrets "Smoothing Resurfacing Primer" and I think its the best thing since sliced bread, sadly it aint student cheap so I only use it when I'm properly going out. It's a little pot of pink miracle paste; smooth a little on and your skin instantly looks better, add your normal foundation over the top and you look Photoshop flawless = perfik. Honestly believe that if you rubbed it over everything the world would be all beautiful and perfect. It's THAT good.

I bought the lacy dress from Topshop that I was musing over for the past couple of days. It's purdy, but I'm still undecided. Indecisiveness is a syndrome I have, it drives me crazy.

Feeling really inspired by words and that at the moment as in what people say/write/type and how it gets left behind. All of which is slightly ironic as I have been avoiding an essay, on a similar topic, that desperately needs writing. It led me to these… I love scrabble piece jewellery and the sweet little images on these makes them extra cool- might have to get me one.

I likes this. It's morbid but it does make you think. Some one tweeted the other day about if you were to die and the last thing you tweeted was a comment that you would be remembered and thereafter judge by, would you be ok with what you'd typed? Hmmmmmmmm. Oh I'm 'Little Gracie Fox' on Twitter, follow me if ya like.

Make Love Happen. at any cost.

Brain images...

It seems to me that the world (my world at least) keeps flipping 180 at the moment. It is a little scary as I'm never quite sure where I stand with regard to being up or down- like being on a roller coaster blindfolded- but if things are a bit murky, I am safe in the knowledge that the following days or week will see lots of wicked things occurring all at once- so I spose it's quite nice really. I think this week's happiness has been catalysed by a constant stream of good music.

Anyways, I've been chained to my work recently which has turned me into a bit of an antisocial hermit creature, all snarly and horrible but I've given myself the rest of the day off and I plan to spend it thusly...
-getting lost in the interweb finding things that will inspire me for the week to come.
-trawling through endless shop sites trying to find an orange-ish dress, as for my birthday I will be dressed as a Fox.
-listening to very good music that I can wiggle to.
-AND drinking an un-ladylike amount of tea.
I may even spend some actual money, now wouldn't that be lovely...

Look what I found...

Possible fox dresses? The two on the left are from Topshop, the one on the right is ASOS Tailored. Think I'm favouring the middle, but
adore the tailored dress.

In a perfect world I would wear this dress pretty much forever, even in the pouring rain, and would eat nothing but party food. It's dead lush.

Untitled by ~xblah on deviantART I think this image is so beautiful-
it conveys a notion of fragility perfectly. I only wish I had the
slightest ability to draw like this, but I quite simply don't and
it would be an insult to try.

Final thought: On treacherously stormy days like today when my hair gets all blown around my head, I feel like one of them giant squid with their tentacles all flailing about. Annoying.

Peace and placidity,
Gracie

Christmas come-down...

So Christmas has come and gone in a big food and alcohol fuelled flurry, and as a result of the latter it all seems like a hazy dream- wicked good fun though. Bring on the next one!!!
I got some lavely pressies too! In truth I did choose (and even buy) most of them but there were a few items that I wasn't expecting :) I plan to post up most of the clothes I got over the rest of the holiday...
This jumper came from a charity shop. I love massive wooly jumpers and you can throw them over anything creating and easy and effortlessly cool look. They also have the great benefit of keeping you warm, which is vital at the moment.

This t-shirt is from Therapy (in the House of Fraser). Slouchy tees are another favourite of mine and I love the colour of blue on this one. Therapy has certainly turned itself around in the last year.

I went sale shopping today and was very disappointed as I didn't find anything! I don't really need anything but still not even seeing one item that caught my eye was very uninspiring. Although the Asos sale was looking good and I found a few things, but I feel that shopping on the net will never be as good as rummaging around in a shop.

Love and serenity,
Gracie

You must try this...

While I was aimlessly wandering through the internet the other I came across the new Virtual Make-over Tool on the Topshops website. Click the link below to try it...
http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogNavigationSearchResultCmd?catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&langId=-1&viewAllFlag=false&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208495&beginIndex=1&pageSize=20&interstitial=true
Most of these internet make-over tools are quite frankly awful, especially the hair style trying ones, however Topshop's one lets you try out the whole of their make up range on a photo of your choice. Very simple. I would love to put up a before and after shot but my computer isn't letting me- irritating.
The photo above is a little blurry but I wanted to show off my lavely new nail varnish that my lavely flatmate kindly got me for Christmas. I, and the majority of my girl mates, have been lusting over this colour for quite some time now. It's "Poison Ivy" from the Topshop range and it's a beauty: elegant but not too over the top and very, very Christmassy!
There are many gorgeous items I have my beady little eyes on at the moment but most of them are a little pricey so I'm waiting until after Christmas in the hope that they will all be in the sales when I will pounce and splash all of my xmas dosh. But... I want these sooo bad. I may just buy them now, but then if I see them in the January sales I may kill myself. Can I wait???

Good tidings,

Back on track...

Urgh. So I'm a bit irritated with myself for totally failing in blogging the past few months. I'm not sure why I didn't, I think that when I wanted to write I didn't have the time or my computer was on the blink (don't get my started on my computer) and when I had the time I had a total block of inspiration. But I'm sorting myself out now and I plan to write lots about lots coz I think it's good for me old noggin'.
Anywho, I wanted to take some photographs and as its all snowy (I know, you're probably sick of people talking about snow...) I thought I'd venture into my garden. Its funny, I don't really do winter clothes- I don't think many people do. At the end of every summer I say "ooh I better buy some winter clothes" knowing full well that I'll probably end up purchasing shorter things than I would've in summer but I think as long as you've got a lovely big coat (or a collection of lovely big coats) to throw over the top as well a plenty of what I call "christmas jumpers" it doesn't really matter what you wear...as long as you don't moan of being cold- you wear the short dress in -2 deal with the freezy draft.
I really do love winter. And I do love the snow, I like the way it dampens all sounds so that when you wake up or walk in a wood everything is silent. When it snows I look about four times more ginger and I become rubbish at hide and seek...
I also love how everyone interacts at this time of year. People are genuinely happy, or a the very least content, and people take a little bit of extra time to be pleasant and kind with one another. Little people are also very, very happy and I love to see their excitment. Also you get to drink, lots and lots of drink and merryness...

A little extra peace and love,
Gracie
